“ Maybe it's just me but I am getting a little impatient with social work groups that just meet up for the purposes of job networking. I don't think that this is what this group was, but I feel like with only an hour or so to spend at lunch (at a loud restaurant, in addition to that) there isn't much time to do much else. I would like to get together in a more adventurous setting that I may be more used to, like exploring a big park, going to check out a new neighborhood not in Manhattan, going to the beach, having a dinner party, or at least going to a happy hour. I know everyone's busy...but hopefully with summer coming we can do some stuff that's less formal.
I also think maybe I'm just strange--I can say that I got into social work because of some sort of values and principles, which I am still trying to figure out. I would like to talk about it with others, but I am kind of bored with the level of dialogue in class--it doesn't involve radical philosophical perspectives. ”
